Artist Faculty in Jazz Saxophone (Studio Teaching) #6902
Teach applied saxophone to music majors and non-majors as needed. Jazz majors receive twelve lessons per semester; other students may enroll in lessons as minors/non-majors or as a secondary performance area.
Attract new students
Assist in maintaining and expanding an outstanding jazz program
Attend student juries at the end of the semester
Coordinate with the jazz faculty and woodwind faculty on issues of curriculum and technique
Perform with the USM Faculty Jazz Ensemble
Coach and/or direct one or more jazz ensembles as needed
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree preferred. Outstanding credentials as a performer and teacher.

$50 per hour
THE UNIVERSITY & THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC:
The University of Southern Maine School of Music is located on the Gorham campus, eight miles from Portland. Undergraduate degrees are offered in Music Education, Performance (including specialized concentrations in Jazz Studies, Piano Pedagogy, and Musical Theatre), and Music (liberal arts). Five master's degree programs are also offered. Fourteen full-time faculty members are augmented by an artist faculty of nearly thirty studio teachers. The School of Music is an accredited institutional member of NASM. The greater Portland community of about 200,000 residents supports a vibrant cultural scene that provides enhanced educational opportunities for students and professional opportunities for faculty members.
