Cadet Williford honored at the State House
Decorated combat veteran and University of Southern Maine Army ROTC Cadet James Williford was honored at the State House.
Williford, an Oakland, Maine native who graduated from Messalonksee HighSchool in 2001, is a sophomore history major at USM.
Williford was presented a Legistlative Sentiment by Sen. Roger Katz, R-Augusta, on the senate floor.
The sentiment reads: “Be it known to all that we, Members of the Senate and house of Representatives, join in recognizing James Williford, of Oakland, who was named a Soldier Hero at the 12th annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Williford, a United States Army veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart, was injured in Iraq in the second of his three deployments; he also served in Afghanistan."
