Duncan Hewitt has worked at the University of Southern Maine for the last thirty eight years where he instructs Sculpture and Design. He started the Sculpture program and developed the related studios. Students in this concentration have become outstanding Artists, Professors, Teachers, and have flourished in both related and unrelated fields. For example a current graduate student, Kaitlyn Hunter will appear this fall in SCULPTURE magazine - chosen as one of the most outstanding Sculpture students in the country. Duncan Hewitt is a full Professor who will be ending his full time instruction this year. He served as the Department of Art chair person for four years. In the Spring of 2016 he wiil have a solo exhibition of his work at the Portland Museum of Art. This exhibition is the outgrowth of a continuous and passionate development of his art. In recent years his work has been shown with outstanding regional, national,and international artists.
