                      Keene State Defeats Southern Maine 15-6

     GORHAM, Maine  --  Sophomore Sean Panora (South Windsor, Conn.) tallied four 
goals and passed out an assist to lead the Keene State College Owls to a 15-6 
victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference 
men's lacrosse match played in the rain Saturday afternoon at Hodgdon Field.
     The win was the eighth straight for the Owls who are undefeated in LEC play.  
The Owls are now 8-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference.  Keene State will be the 
top seed and receive a first round bye in the LEC tournament that begins Tuesday.  
Southern Maine finishes its season at 3-9 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
     Panora and senior Eric Momnie (South Windsor, Conn.) each scored a pair of 
goals in the first quarter as the Owls staked out a 6-3 lead after 15 minutes.  
USM sophomore Brian White (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) scored twice and senior Mark 
St. John (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/South Portland) once for the Huskies.
     White tallied his third goal of the game late in the second quarter to pull 
the Huskies within two (6-4), but senior Greg Richard (Nashua, N.H.) restored the 
Owls' three-goal lead with 10 seconds left before halftime.
     The Owls took command of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the 
Huskies 5-0, to build a 12-4 advantage after three periods.  Richard found the net 
twice while Panora, Momnie and freshman Peter Lauranzano (Beverly, Mass.) each 
scored once.
     Panora, Lauranzano and sophomore Zach Tatge (Chappaqqua, N.Y./Horace Greely) 
scored in the final period for the Owls to offset goals by senior Matt Butler 
(Barnstable, Mass.) and junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) for the 
Huskies.
     Keene State freshman goalie Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) was 
credited with six saves over the first three quarters before giving way to 
classmate Brad Bishop (Brunswick, Maine) for the final period.  Bishop had five 
saves.  Juniors Mark Morissette (Wales, Maine/Oak Hill) and Jeff Lamoureux 
(Walpole, Mass.) split the goaltending chores for the Huskies.  Morissette played 
the first and fourth quarters making seven saves while Lamoureux played the middle 
two periods, making 13 stops.

                  Baseball, Softball Doubleheaders to Start Early
                        Men's Lacrosse Moved to Noon Start

     GORHAM, Maine  --  The Department of Athletics at the University of Southern 
Maine announced today that the baseball and softball doubleheaders scheduled for 
tomorrow (Saturday, April 30) have been changed to earlier starting times.
     The Huskies' baseball doubleheader with Little East Conference rival Plymouth 
State University will now start at 10:00 a.m.
     The softball twinbill with LEC foe Keene State College will begin at 12:00 
p.m.
     The men's lacrosse match with Keene State College has also been moved up to a 
12:00 p.m. start.
     Other home events on Saturday include the men's tennis match with Green 
Mountain College that will be played in the field house starting at 11:30 a.m

                    Colby Earns Win Over Southern Maine 17-10

     WATERVILLE, Maine.  -- Ryan Scott (Columbia, N.J.) had three goals and one 
assist in lifting the Colby College White Mules men's lacrosse team to a 17-10 
victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in non-conference play 
Tuesday afternoon at Bill Alfond Field.
     Colby earned its third win of the season to improve to 3-10 overall while the 
Huskies, with their second consecutive loss, drop to 3-8 overall.
     Troy Lieberman (Andover, Mass.) added two goals and one assist and Tim Brown 
(Manchester, Mass.) had one goal and two assists.  Adam Kirk (Port Jefferson 
Station, N.Y.), Dan Schupack (Cheshire, Conn.) and Tucker Kelton (Yarmouth, Maine) 
all had one goal and one assist for the Mules.  Peter Ippolito (Concord, Mass.) 
finished with a pair of goals.
     After battling to a 3-3 tie after one quarter, Colby went ahead 8-5 at 
halftime.  The Mules then put the game away by scoring seven unanswered goals in 
the third quarter.
     Junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) had two goals and two assists 
for Southern Maine.  Sophomore Brian White (Gorham, Maine) finished with three 
goals.
     Southern Maine plays its final game of the season at home this Saturday, 
April 30, at 1:00 p.m. against Little East Conference rival Keene State College.  
Colby hosts Wesleyan University in its next contest, Saturday, April 30 at 1:00 
p.m.

                   Witham Named LEC Offensive Player of the Week

     GORHAM, Maine  --  Junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) of the 
University of Southern Maine Huskies men's lacrosse team has been named the 
Offensive Player of the Week by the Little East Conference for the week of April 
18-24.  The announcement was made Monday afternoon by the conference office.
     Witham is the first USM men's lacrosse player to earn a weekly Little East 
citation this spring, and the first since Jeff Lamoureux was named Defensive 
Player of the Week during the 2003 season.
     In three games last week, the junior attack man scored 13 goals and dished 
out four assists for 17 points.  He had a school record-tying six goals and one 
assist in the Huskies' 19-0 win over Thomas College, and four goals and two 
assists in 12-7 win over the University of New England.  He netted three goals and 
passed out one assist in a 14-9 loss against Plymouth State University.
     On the season, Witham is the Huskies' second leading scorer with 20 goals and 
13 assists for 33 points in 10 games.  He leads the team with seven man-up goals
     Southern Maine, 3-7 overall and 0-5 in the Little East Conference, will 
travel to Waterville, Maine, on Tuesday (4:30 p.m.) to play Colby College.  The 
Huskies close out the regular season on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) hosting conference 
leading Keene State College.

                USM Athletic Department Announces Schedule Updates

     GORHAM, Maine  --  Due to the inclement weather this past weekend, the 
University of Southern Maine Athletics Department has announce the following 
schedule changes.
     The men's lacrosse game with Daniel Webster, rescheduled to Thursday, April 
28, has been cancelled.  
     The Huskies baseball doubleheader at Keene State College, originally slated 
for Saturday, April 23, has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 1, starting at 12:00 
p.m.  The May 1 doubleheader between the Huskies and Husson College, at Husson, 
has been postponed.  Officials are looking into a possible make-up date.
     The softball doubleheader at Eastern Connecticut State University, originally 
scheduled for this past weekend, will be played Sunday, May 1, at Howard Spector 
Field in Willimantic, Conn., beginning at 1:00 p.m.
     The women's lacrosse game with Plymouth State University that was stopped in 
the first half due to unplayable field conditions has been rescheduled for Sunday, 
May 1, at USM's Hodgdon Field.  Game time is 1:00 p.m.
     The men's tennis match at Western Connecticut State University, originally 
set for Saturday, April 23, was moved to Sunday, May 1, at Western Connecticut.  
Attempts are being made to reschedule the match with Green Mountain College, 
originally scheduled for that date.

     PSU Men's Lax posts fourth straight victory with win over Southern Maine

     PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Freshman Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) and junior Bobby 
Dabrieo (Woburn, Mass.) registered five points apiece and junior Jon Gagnon (New 
Bedford, Mass.) recorded his 100th career point Sunday afternoon as Plymouth State 
University defeated the University of Southern Maine, 14-9, in a Little East 
Conference men's lacrosse game at rainy Panther Field.
     The victory was PSU's fourth in a row and pulls the Panthers back to the .500 
mark at 6-6 overall, 2-3 in conference play.  The Huskies, which led at the end of 
the first two quarters but couldn't hold on, fall to 3-7 overall and 0-5 in the 
LEC.
     USM took a 3-0 lead midway through the opening frame, thanks to two goals and 
one assist from junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine).  PSU came back with 
the next four goals, two at the end of the first quarter and two more to start the 
second, to take a 4-3 lead.  The Huskies regained the advantage with two goals 
late in the second quarter and held a 5-4 lead at halftime.
     Gagnon's goal for PSU late in the first quarter gave him 100 career points on 
76 goals and 24 assists.  He becomes the 19th player in school history to go over 
the 100-point barrier.
     The Panthers owned the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 6-1 to pull 
ahead 10-6.  Dabrieo led the Panther onslaught with a goal and four assists in the 
quarter, while Krinsky scored three times.  PSU put the game away with three 
unanswered goals midway though the fourth quarter.
     Krinsky finished with five goals and senior Steve Skinner (Hingham, Mass.) 
scored twice.  Freshmen John Cogswell (Jefferson, Mass.), Mike Russell (Concord, 
N.H.), Ryan Silva (Chelmsford, Mass.), Tony Aguiar (Bow, N.H.), and John Brule 
(Northboro, Mass.) all collected one goal for PSU. 
     Witham led USM with three goals, while senior Matt Butler (Barnstable, Mass.) 
and sophomore Brian White (Gorham, Maine) added a goal and two assists apiece.  
Freshman Tim Beauchamp (Lexington, Mass.) and senior Mark St. John (Cape 
Elizabeth, Maine) also scored once for the Huskies.
     Sophomore Steve Valeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) made 10 saves to earn the win in 
the Panther goal, and sophomore Nick Grobe (Northboro, Mass.) came on for the 
final six minutes and made two saves.  Junior Jeff Lamoureux (Walpole, Mass.) 
recorded five saves in the first three quarters for the Huskies, and junior Mark 
Morissette (Wales, Maine) made two saves in the fourth quarter.
     PSU wraps up the regular season next Sunday (May 1) with a Little East 
Conference make-up game at home against UMass Dartmouth (1:00 p.m.).  USM returns 
to action with a non-conference tilt Tuesday at Colby College (4:30 p.m.)

                  WITHAM, WHITE PROPEL SOUTHERN MAINE PAST U.N.E.
              Duo Nets Eight Goals, Hands Out Six Assists in 12-7 Win

     BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and 
sophomore Brian White (Gorham, Maine) combined for eight goals and six assists to 
lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 12-7 non-conference men's 
lacrosse victory over the University of New England Nor'easters Thursday 
afternoon.
     The win was the second straight for the Huskies, who improved their record to 
3-6.  The Nor'easters lost for the sixth straight outing to fall to 1-9.
     Leading 8-6 after three periods, Southern Maine tallied four unanswered goals 
to start the final frame to help put the match away.  White had two of his four 
goals during that stretch, and set up another score.
     White and Witham had four goals apiece to account for two-thirds of the 
Huskies' offense. Three of Witham's goals came during man-up situations, as the 
Nor'easters hurt their cause with 14 penalties. 
     White finished with four assists to rack up a USM single-game tying eight 
points.  He push his team-leading total to a single-season record 39, surpassing 
the previous record of 37 points set by Jon McCabe in 2002.
     Senior Matt Butler (Barnstable, Mass.) chipped in with two goals for the 
Huskies, who led in shots (44-25) and ground balls (52-43).  Junior goalie Mark 
Morissette (Wales, Maine) had 10 saves. 
     Senior Matt Vieira (South Paris, Maine) scored twice for the Nor'easters.  
Sophomore A.J. Gagliardi (Branford, Conn.) stopped 16 shots.
     The Huskies return to action on Sunday when they travel to Plymouth State 
University for a Little East Conference match.  UNE concludes its season on 
Saturday with a road match at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

                           Huskies Shutout Thomas, 19-0

     WATERVILLE, Maine.  -- Junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape 
Elizabeth) rattled home a record-tying six goals and added an assist as the 
University of Southern Maine Huskies exploded for nine first period goals en route 
a 19-0 shutout over the Thomas College Terriers in a non-conference men's lacrosse 
game Monday in Waterville. 
     Witham's six goals equaled the single-game record for goals in a game, and 
led seven Husky players with at least one goal as Southern Maine halted a two-game 
slide to improve to 2-6 overall.  Witham is the second USM player to tie the 
single-game goal scoring mark this season. Sophomore Brian White (Gorham, 
Maine/Cheverus) tied the mark against Western Connecticut.
     Thomas, in its first varsity season, lost its fifth consecutive game and is 
winless on the season at 0-5.
     Huskies' senior Matt Butler (Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) tallied five goals 
for USM, while White added three goals and a team-high five assists.  White now 
has 30 points this season on 21 goals and nine assists to lead Southern Maine in 
scoring.  
     Southern Maine set a team record for assists in a game, collecting 16 
assists, led by White's five.  The previous mark of 13 assists was set on March 
17, 2003 in a 21-4 win over Emerson.  Senior Mark St. John (Cape Elizabeth, 
Maine/South Portland) and senior captain T.J. Bell (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) 
each passed off three assists to aid the Huskies to the new record. 
     Husky goalkeeper Jeff Lamoreaux (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) earned the rare 
shutout win making six saves, while his Thomas counterpart Jon Robertson (Byfield, 
Mass./Triton Regional) made 19 saves for the Terriers. 
     Southern Maine returns to action on the road Thursday, April 21 at the 
University of New England.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m.

               UMass Dartmouth Pulls Away from Southern Maine, 10-5

     GORHAM, Maine  --  Sophomore middie Nick Lapointe's (Tyngsboro, Mass.) second 
goal of the game snapped a 4-4 tie with 4:29 left in the third period and the 
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Corsairs went on to post a 10-5 victory over 
the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference game Saturday 
afternoon at Hodgdon Field.
     The win breaks a four-game losing skid for the Corsairs.  UMD improves to 3-6 
overall and 1-3 in the conference.  Southern Maine dropped its second straight to 
fall to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the LEC.
     Lapointe scored the only goal of the first quarter to give the visitors a 1-0 
lead after 15 minutes.  Freshman Nick McEvoy (Wrentham, Mass.) and sophomore Ryan 
Darmon (Sandwich, Mass.) found the net to increase the margin to 3-0 midway 
through the second period.
Sophomore Brian White (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) and freshman Tim Beauchamp 
(Lexington, Mass.) scored for Southern Maine in the final six minutes to make it 
3-2 at halftime.
     USM senior Ben Sylvia (Bristol, Maine/Kents Hill) tied the game less than two 
minutes into the third quarter.  Junior Ryan Grant (Framingham, Mass.) put UMD 
back on top 38 seconds later.  White's second goal of the game with 12:22 on the 
clock knotted the game at 4-4.
     After Lapointe broke the tie, McEvoy, with 2:24 left in the third quarter, 
and freshman Kevin Enwright (Burlington, Mass.), three minutes into the fourth 
quarter, scored to make it 7-4.
     White got the Huskies back within two at 7-5 with a man-up goal with 9:25 to 
play, but that was as close as USM would get as the Corsairs scored the game's 
final three goals.
     Grant and McEvoy each had three goals to lead the Corsairs.  White topped the 
Huskies' scoring list with three goals.
     Freshman goalie Steve Chase (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) finished with 10 
saves for the Corsairs.  Junior Jeff Lamoureux (Walpole, Mass.) was credited with 
21 saves for the Huskies.
     Southern Maine will travel to Thomas College on Monday for a non-conference 
game starting at 4:00 p.m.  UMass Dartmouth hits the road Monday for a 3:30 p.m. 
game at Mount Ida College.

                      UMass Boston Downs Southern Maine 14-2

     BOSTON, Mass.  --  Junior attackman Patrick Donlan (Norwell, Mass.) tallied 
six points on four goals and two assists to lead the University of Massachusetts 
Boston Beacons men’s lacrosse team past the University of Southern Maine Huskies 
14-2 in a Little East Conference contest Thursday at the Clark Athletic Center 
on the campus of UMass Boston.
     The Beacons improve to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the LEC, while the Huskies 
fall to 1-5 and 0-3.
     UMass Boston’s defense was outstanding, holding Southern Maine scoreless 
for the final 32:02 of play.
     Donlan netted the game’s first two goals for UMB and sophomore attackman 
Christopher Hanafin (Burlington, Mass.) scored with 1:46 left in the opening 
quarter to give the Beacons a 3-0 lead.  Sophomore Brian White (Gorham, Maine) 
put the Huskies on the board with a goal coming with just 1:01 left in the 
period.  
     Hanafin and sophomore attackman Matt Ficarra (Syracuse, N.Y.) each scored a 
pair of goals sandwiched around a goal from freshman midfielder Jonathan Ruiz 
(Longmeadow, Mass.) to open the second quarter and give UMass Boston an 8-1 
advantage with 6:18 remaining in the second quarter.  Junior Travis Witham (Cape 
Elizabeth, Maine) netted Southern Maine’s lone goal of the second stanza with 
2:02 showing on the clock to make it 8-2, where it stood at the intermission.  
     Sophomore middie Nicholi Sullo (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) scored just 16 
seconds into the third quarter, while Donlan added a pair of goals to bookend a 
score from Hanafin to extend the Beacons’ lead to 12-2 after three periods.  
Sophomore attackman Ryan O’Rourke (Milton, Mass.) and Ruiz each netted a goal in 
the final period for UMB to cap the scoring.
     Sophomore goalie Nick Eaton (Rowley, Mass.) stopped 11 shots to for the 
Beacons to earn the win, while junior Jeff Lamoureux (Walpole, Mass.) also made 
11 saves for the Huskies.
     Hanafin finished the day with five points for UMass Boston, netting four 
goals and adding a helper, while Ficarra registered four points on a pair of 
goals and two assists.  O’Rourke, the nation’s leader in points per game, picked 
up four points on a goal and three assists and Sullo collected two points with a 
goal and an assist.
     Senior Matt Butler (Barnstable, Mass.) and sophomore Shane Billings (North 
Berwick, Maine) each assisted on a goal for Southern Maine.
     The Beacons will be in action again on Saturday, April 16 when they host 
Plymouth State University at 1:00 p.m. in a Little East Conference match-up at 
the Clark Athletic Center on the campus of UMB.

            Huskies Clip Mariners 10-5 to Earn First Win of the Season

     GORHAM, Maine  - Senior captain T. J. Bell (Farmington, Maine/Mt. Blue) 
notched four goals and sophomore Brian White (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) added three 
goals to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 10-5 triumph over the 
Maine Maritime Academy Mariners in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Tuesday 
afternoon at Hodgdon Field in Gorham.
     The win is the first of the season for the Huskies and improves their overall 
record to 1-4.  The loss drops Maine Maritime below .500 at 2-3 overall. 
     White scored two of his goals in the first period as the Huskies raced out to 
a 5-0 lead.  Junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth), senior 
Mark St. John (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/South Portland) and Bell each added scores in 
the breakout first period for the Huskies.  
     In the hole five goals to none, Maine Maritime used a three goal second 
period and a excellent defensive display, led by back-up goalie Patrick Jones 
(Kennebunkport, Maine), in the third to cut the Husky lead to two, 6-4, heading 
into the fourth period. 
     Mariner senior Dan Berry (Woonsocket, R.I.) led the charge scoring both of 
his goals in the second period while freshman Nathan Bolduc (Farmington, Maine) 
added a goal and an assist in the period to bring Maine Maritime to within three, 
6-3, at the half.  Jones, who entered the game in the second period replacing 
starter Roscoe Bishop (West Bath, Maine), made six saves in the period and 
continued his excellent work in the third period blanking the Huskies while making 
three saves.  
     Despite being outscored 4-1 in the second and third periods, the Huskies, 
behind three consecutive goals from Bell,  came out firing in the fourth to close 
out the win.  Bell scored the first of his three unanswered tallies with 12:52 
minutes to play in the fourth and then notched his second goal in short order just 
33 seconds. Bell then tallied his third goal of the period and fourth of the game 
with 10:42 to go to give Huskies a comfortable 9-4 cushion. 
     Scoring then took a brief hiatus before White drilled in his final goal of 
the game with 4:52 left in the game as Southern Maine was in control of the game.  
Maine Maritime's Will Hood (Phippsburg, Maine) netted the last goal of the game 
for the 10-5 final. 
     Southern Maine goalkeeper Mark Morissette (Minot, Maine) earned the win 
making 13 saves.  Jones finished the game with 10 saves in 45 minutes of action 
with five goals against, while Bishop made two saves and allowed five goals in 15 
minutes of work. 
     The Huskies return to action Thursday, April 14 on the road at 3:00 against 
UMass Boston in a Little East Conference game.

                   Western Connecticut Tips Southern Maine 12-9

     GORHAM, Maine  --  Sophomore Justin Monroe (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) tallied 
five goals, including three in the pivotal third quarter, to lead the Western 
Connecticut State University Colonials to a 12-9 win over the University of 
Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men's lacrosse game Saturday at 
Hodgdon Field in Gorham. 
     With the win Western Connecticut improves to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the 
Little East while the Huskies remain winless this season with a 0-4 overall mark 
and a 0-2 record in conference action. 
     Monroe spearheaded the Colonials attack in the third period netting three of 
his team-high five goals to break open a 6-6 stalemate in the second half as 
Western Connecticut outscored the Huskies 4-1 in the third, which would prove to 
be the difference in the game.  
     Attacking right from the start, Monroe gave the Colonials a 7-6 lead just 
seven seconds into the third period on an assist from sophomore midfielder John 
Salley (Norwalk, Conn./Brian McMahon).  Monroe then pushed the Colonials cushion 
to two, 8-6, with 9:30 remaining in the period when he finished an assist from 
sophomore John Stashenko (Norwalk, Conn./Brian McMahon).  Stashenko would score a 
goal of his own two minutes later to push the Colonial lead to 9-6.  USM sophomore 
Brian White (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) halted the Colonials three-goal run with 6:39 
to play in the third.   But the Colonials' Monroe would answer right back netting 
Western Connecticut's fourth goal of the period and his fifth of the game 39 
seconds after White's tally to Western Connecticut a 10-7 lead heading into the 
final period. 
     Both teams would score two goals a piece in the fourth for the 12-9 final.  
     White paced the Huskies with a game-high six goals, including two in the 
final period, while senior Matt Butler (Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) added two 
goals and an assist. Southern Maine senior captain T.J. Bell (Farmington, 
Maine/Mt. Blue) had a goal and an assist.  
     Monroe's five goals led Western Connecticut, while sophomore Jeff Keagon 
(Norwalk, Conn./Brian McMahon) racked up three goals and two assists.  Stashenko 
finished with two goals and an assist and Sulley totaled a goal and an assist. 
     Southern Maine goalkeeper Jeff Lamoureux (Walpole, Mass/Walpole) played an 
excellent game in between the pipes for the Huskies making 22 saves on 36 shots.  
Western Connecticut keeper Chuck Byrne (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) turned 
back eight USM shots for the win. 
     Southern Maine returns to action at home against Maine Maritime Academy, 
Tuesday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m.  Western Connecticut plays again Wednesday, April 
13 at 7 p.m. at home versus Mt. St. Vincent.

                  Eastern Connecticut Downs Southern Maine, 14-5
               Eight-Goal First Period Proves to be the Difference

     WILLIMANTIC, Conn.  --  Senior Brian Hebron (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored five 
goals and passed off four assists to lead the Eastern Connecticut State University 
Warriors to a 14-5 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a 
Little East Conference men's lacrosse game played Monday afternoon at Nevers 
Field.
     The win snapped a three-game losing skid for the Warriors who improved to 3-3 
overall.  Southern Maine dropped its third straight to fall to 0-3 overall.  The 
game was the conference opener for both teams.
     Hebron keyed an 8-1 first quarter blitz that put the Warriors comfortably 
ahead with two goals and two assists.  The Warriors netted four goals in the 
opening six minutes to take a 4-0 lead before USM got on the board on a goal by 
junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) with 8:08 to play in the quarter.
     USM outscored the Warriors 2-1 in the second quarter to trial 9-3 at 
halftime.  Hebron netted the first two goals of the third period for the hosts to 
help increase the ECSU lead to 12-3.
     Sophomore Chris Elrod (Riverside, Conn.) added three goals for the Warriors.  
Sophomore Dave Carpenter (Redding, Conn.) had a pair of goals and two assists 
while freshman Pete Hamilton (Rutland, Vt.) added two goals.
     Sophomore Brian White (Gorham, Maine) led the Huskies with a pair of goals.  
Witham and seniors Matt Butler (Barnstable, Mass.) and Mark St. John (Cape 
Elizabeth, Maine) each had one goal.
     Junior goalies Jeff Lamoureux (Walpole, Mass.) and Mark Morissette (Wales, 
Maine) combined for 26 saves for Southern Maine.  Junior Will Holland (Kent, 
Conn.) and freshman Kiernan Daly (Windsor, Conn.) had eight saves for Eastern 
Connecticut.
     Southern Maine returns to action this Saturday hosting Western Connecticut 
State University in a Little East Conference game.  Wednesday's scheduled away 
game at Plymouth State University has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 24.  
Eastern Connecticut will travel to Western Connecticut on Wednesday for a 7:00 
p.m. game.

     GORHAM, Maine  --  Today's Little East Conference men's lacrosse game between 
the University of Southern Maine and Eastern Connecticut State University has been 
postponed due to the rain covering the region.
     The game has been rescheduled to Monday (April 4) with a 4:00 p.m. start.

               Huskies Lose a Heartbreaker in Triple Overtime, 11-10

     NEWTON, Mass.  --  Freshman attackman Dave Bulhoes (Billerica, Mass.) scored 
the game-winning goal in the third sudden death overtime period give the Lasell 
College Lancers an 11-10 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in 
a non-conference men's lacrosse game Thursday in Newton, Mass.
     The win improved the Lancers overall record to 4-1.  Southern Maine dropped 
its second straight to fall to 0-2.  The game was originally scheduled to be 
played at USM, but was moved to Lasell due to the snow still covering the Huskies' 
home field.
     The teams were tied at 10-10 after regulation play, then battled through two 
scoreless four-minute sudden-death overtime periods.  Midway through the third 
sudden-death overtime period, Bulhoes ended the contest slipping a shot past USM 
junior goalie Jeff Lamoureux (Walpole, Mass.).  The game was the longest in the 
five-year history of varsity lacrosse at USM.
     The host Lancers jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one quarter, but the Huskies 
came back in the second period to forge a 5-5 tie at the break.  Teams remained 
close throughout the second half.
     Junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and sophomore Brian White 
(Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) paced the Huskies' offense with three goals apiece.  
Senior Mark St. John (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) added two goals, and senior T.J. Bell 
(Farmington, Maine) and junior Chris Brookes (Hallowell, Maine) contributed one 
goal.  Witham and Bell also had two assists.
     Lamoureux finished the game with 29 saves.
     Southern Maine hits the road on Saturday, traveling to Willimantic, Conn., to 
take on the powerful Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors.  The game is 
the Little East Conference opener for both teams.  Lasell will host Skidmore 
College on Saturday.

                        Endicott Downs Southern Maine 15-8

     BEVERLY, Mass.  --  Junior Parker Sowles (Cumberland, Maine/Kents Hill) and 
senior Sam Chidester (Eliot, Maine/Marshwood) combined for six goals and seven 
assists to lead the Endicott College Gulls to a 15-8 victory over the University 
of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game Thursday 
night.
     The win improved the Gulls record to 4-1 overall.  The game, originally 
scheduled for Saturday at Gorham, was the first of the season for the Huskies.
     The Gulls jumped on top in the first quarter taking a 5-2 lead.  Each team 
had three goals in the second period to make it 8-5 at halftime.  Endicott 
increased its lead to 11-6 after three quarters to take firm control.
     Sophomore Josh Gilbert (Simsbury, Conn.) added three goals to the Endicott 
offense.  Senior Burt Fahy (Needham, Mass.) and sophomore Dan Ryan (Billerica, 
Mass.) each contributed a pair of tallies.
     For Southern Maine, seniors Matt Butler (Barnstable, Mass.) and Mark St. 
John (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/South Portland) paced the attack with three goals 
apiece.  Junior Travis Witham (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and sophomore Brian White 
(Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) each had a goal and two assists for the Huskies.
     Junior Jeff Lamoureux (Walpole, Mass.) started in goal for USM and made 13 
saves in 51 minutes of action.  Junior Mark Morissette (Wales, Maine/Oak Hill) 
played the final nine minutes making two saves.
     The Huskies next game is scheduled for Tuesday (March 29) when they host 
Daniel Webster College.  Endicott will travel to Bowdoin College next Monday 
night (March 28)
