Head Coach
Annette Caldwell
Coach
Caldwell has been head coach of the women's
volleyball program at USM since its revival in 1996
(with the exception of the 1998-99 season).
Instrumental in the decision to bring volleyball
back to USM, Caldwell has been faced with the
challenge of mounting a successful program in a
state with only limited volleyball in the high
schools. The team is still in development but is
working to reach Caldwell's goals both on and off
the court.
Caldwell strongly believes in goal setting and
feels the team has progressed well. She combines
intense coaching which guides her players to meet
their potential; at the same time, her enthusiasm
and creativity help team members expand their
collegiate experience to include life skills and
values.
A USM alumna, Caldwell played volleyball for the
university from 1984-87 and was team captain from
1985-87. She was a member of the state championship
team of 1984.
Caldwell began her coaching career at Thomas
College in Watervill where she led the lady Terriers
to their first play-off bid. She was able to observe
a successful Division I program for 18 months before
returning to USM; she believes this opportunity as
well as her own playing experience and coaching
skills, will continue to move the USM Volleyball
program in a positive direction.
