Head Coach
Barry Tripp
Barry Tripp, the former men's and women's volleyball
head coach at Southern Maine Community College, has been named head coach for
women's volleyball at the University of Southern Maine.
Tripp replaces John Razsa who stepped down after three seasons at USM to
focus on other professional duties. Al Bean, Director of Athletics at Southern
Maine, made the announcement.
"Barry has been involved in coaching volleyball for more than a decade and
brings a wealth of experience to the court," commented Bean. "He has great
enthusiasm for the game as well as a passion for fitness and an all-out hustle
on the court."
Tripp led the men's and women's volleyball programs at Southern Maine
Community College from 1991-2003 where he was responsible for coordinating all
aspects of the two programs, including recruiting and scouting, development of
practice and game plans, fundraising and strength and conditioning. During his
12 seasons with the Seawolves, Tripp led both teams to numerous conference
championships.
Since 1999, Tripp has been the Director of Personal Training for LifeStyle
Fitness Center in Scarborough and Portland, Maine. Tripp also owns and runs The
Ocean Tripp Inn, a seasonal family vacation inn, in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
Tripp is an American Fitness Association (AFA) certified personal trainer
and a member of the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) and Maine
State Volleyball Association (A, and Open Levels). He holds an associate's
