GORHAM, Maine - Seniors Mary Caron (Lewiston, Maine/St. Dominic's) and Allison Pillar (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle), junior Amber Kelly (Berwick, Maine/Noble), sophomore Brooke Cross (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and freshman Madison Greene (Moultonborough, N.H./Moultonborough Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' softball team each earned post-season honors from the Little East Conference following a vote of LEC coaches.
Greene took home second team honors, while Caron, Cross, Kelly and Pillar each earned first team nods after an outstanding 2017 season. With five all-conference selections, it is the most representation Southern Maine softball has had on the Little East Conference All-Conference team since the 2004 season when the Huskies posted a school record 33 wins.
"It is a tremendous accomplishment to have five players named to the all-conference team. It speaks to the depth and talent of our team. I want to congratulate and thank our two seniors, Mary and Ally on their career years; they are so deserving of this accolade for their outstanding play and leadership throughout the season," said fifth year head coach Sarah Jamo.
Our three returning all-conference players, Amber, Brooke and Maddy shows great promise for the future, and will continue to push their teammates to reach their potential. Amber has consistently done it all for us offensively and defensively, having another great year in centerfield, on the mound and making contributions at the plate. The two underclassmen, Brooke and Maddy, had break out seasons, playing some of their best softball towards the end of the season. I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish in the seasons to come."
