Senior Mary Caron became the fifth Husky softball player to earn Academic All-District honors and the first since Sarah McLean received the academic distinction in 2003. A first team selection, Caron is moves onto the national ballot and is eligible for Academic All-America honors.

He is also a scholar, twice earning elite status from the NCAA as the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grades participating at his finals.

On April 30, USM Athletics and the University of Southern Maine dedicated its baseball field Ed Flaherty Field in honor of its long-time head coach Ed Flaherty. Flaherty has guided USM to two national championships, eight regional championships and is a member of five Hall of Fame entities.
