GORHAM, Maine – Twenty-one University of Southern Maine Huskies' spring student-athletes have been recognized by the Little East Conference for their outstanding academic achievements earning spots on the 2017 Little East Conference Spring All-Academic Team. Student-athletes from all seven of Southern Maine's Little East Conference sponsored teams have representatives on the academic squad: men's tennis, softball, women's outdoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and baseball.
To earn the academic distinction, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher through the spring 2017 semester, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The student-athlete must also be a full-time member of a varsity sport and be enrolled in its institution for a full academic year.
"Balancing academic responsibilities and the commitments and challenges of being a student-athlete takes a great deal of commitment, hard work and sacrifice," said USM Director of Athletics Al Bean. "Each student-athlete recognized by the Little East should be very proud of their academic achievements. USM prides itself on its student-athletes ability to not only participate but to excel in their academic and athletic pursuits."
