GORHAM, Maine – With the snow finally cleared from the field and several Husky home games in the books, the University of Southern Maine Huskies' Department of Athletics, the softball team and members of the Tourism & Hospitality class Off-Site Catering invite you to a day-long celebration of the Grand Opening of the Huskies' new state-of-the-art stadium on Saturday, April 29.
Now home of one of the finest softball stadiums in the New England region, Huskies' athletics is inviting alumnae, friends and fans to partake in the festivities surrounding the stadium's dedication, beginning with a barbeque and tailgate at 11:00 a.m. prior to the softball team's Little East Conference doubleheader with Eastern Connecticut State (1:00 p.m.). Coordinated and executed by members of the Off-Site catering class led by instructor Sarah Ghezzi, in addition to a full menu numerous ball park items will be available to fans for free as well as complimentary games of corn hole, various prizes and 50/50 raffles.
"USM Tourism and Hospitality's Off-Site Catering class emphasizes the planning and management of events, specifically catering events, so the opportunity to partner with USM Athletics for this celebration is a great way to put what we have learned into practice," said Ghezzi. "Over the course of the class students gain knowledge and practical skills in how to execute events and manage all of the components that a required to host a successful event, including logistics, financing, marketing, programming and risk man agement. As a class we are excited to assist and participate in the grand opening of the USM Softball Stadium and continue the celebration 50 Years of Women's Intercollegiate Athletics at USM." READ MORE
