Biology students present at research conference

Two undergraduate Biology students, Hassan Shaleh (right) and Robert Harper (left), presented their research poster at the Northeast Undergraduate Research & Discovery Symposium 2012, recently held at the University of New England. They work in Dr. Lisa Moore's lab generating cultures of the marine cyanobacterium, Prochlorococcus, that are free of contaminating bacteria. They were successful this semester in generating 2 such strains that can be used for further studies of nutrient physiology of this ecologically significant phototroph.
