Nurse Practitioner Visits With USM Premedical & Health Student Society
Students in the USM Premedical & Health Student Society student club met with Ann Conley, a nurse practitioner at USM Health and Counseling Services, to learn about health career opportunities during the group's weekly meeting on Nov. 28th.
Last year, Ann and the USM student health center began working with the club to provide volunteer opportunities for pre-health students, which include shadowing medical student residents. This fall, the club also held a blood drive at USM, several fund raisers, and coordinated volunteering at Partners in World Health. They also worked to increase the accessibility of volunteering at several local hospitals. The club organized information sessions with area medical school programs, armed services recruiters, and current medical students. Recently, several members participated in Family Medicine information night at Maine Medical Center.
Any student can join the club. Interested students can connect with the group by contacting the faculty advisor, Dave Champlin, champlin@maine.edu.
