Who are the users of repository tissue?

The users of non-profit repositories are typically academic or commercial researchers. Because the research-quality tissue and associated medical data supplied by commercial repositories is typically costly, most users need to be well-funded. Most commonly the users are pharmaceutical or biotech companies without their own independent access to tissue and data. Another class of users are federally funded researchers, typically who have been awarded large research grants.

Because tissue may be made available at-cost to researchers at the participating hospitals, there may also be small research groups or single researchers who utilize some tissue and data.
