Joyous Sounds for a Festive Season

The USM Chamber Singers, the university's premiere a cappella ensemble, will perform their spirited annual tradition, conducted by Robert Russell, USM professor of Music and Choral Studies.

The concert is sponsored by Norway Savings Bank.

23rd Annual Scholarship Gala

La Stagione della Luce Veneziana: A Venetian Season of Light

A glittering return to the warmth of the holiday season! Enjoy an elegant evening in support of scholarships for USM School of Music students. A Venetian Season of Light features live musical performances by the School of Music’s acclaimed student ensembles from start to finish. The gala includes a festive holiday banquet with tableside serenading, a live auction, silent auction, raffle drawing and centerpiece concert.

USM Composers Showcase Concert
8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7

Corthell Concert Hall, 37 College Ave., USM Gorham campus

The USM Composers Ensemble is a group of more than 30 students who work collaboratively to debut and rehearse pieces that each student individually composes, under the direction of Dan Sonenberg, USM associate professor of Music and resident composer. Each semester culminates with a final Showcase Concert, which features the ensemble performing wholly original work.

USM Youth Ensembles Vocal Concert

7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11

Corthell Concert Hall, 37 College Ave., USM Gorham campus

This annual concert brings together the Southern Maine Youth Chorale, conducted by Shannon Chase, and the Southern Maine Children's Choir, conducted by Paul McGovern. The chorale is comprised of singers in grades seven-12, and the choir is comprised of singers in grades four and up. The groups rehearse at the USM School of Music throughout the fall and present a final concert to showcase their talent and musicianship.
The concert is sponsored by Macy's.

Professor Ed Collom Awarded 2015-2016 Trustee Professorship

Dr. Ed Collom, Professor of Sociology, is the recipient of the 2015-2016 Trustee Professorship.  The award was established by the University of Maine System Board of Trustees to reward excellence and support a research project by releasing the holder from a portion of their teaching duties.
