One of the things I've been doing as an intern for the Campus Safety Project is advocacy training with Family Crisis Services. The advocacy training is available to anyone who wants to volunteer. The volunteers that complete the advocacy training will offer support to the people who use the hotline, shelters, and outreach offices for help out of abusive relationships and life-threatening situations. In order to volunteer for Family Crisis Services the 40-hour training is mandatory. It is typically offered three times throughout the year-Fall, Winter and Spring. Once someone has compelted the training, they can choose from a variety of options to decide how to volunteer their time (taken from Family Crisis Services).
