Clara Porter, MSW is the coordinator of The Campus Safety Project at USM focused on preventing and responding to interpersonal violence in the community. She is also the founder of Prevention. Action. Change. in Portland Maine. Porter has extensive training in violence prevention programming for children, youth, and adults and has been teaching in the field since 1994. She has trained at the Tri-State Victim Assistance Academy, Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine, and the Center for Anti-Violence Education in Brooklyn, NY and is a nationally certified self defense instructor. Porter is also certified in Advanced Trauma First Aide, a crisis intervention and healing approach she uses frequently in her work.
