The University of Southern Maine's Campus Ventures program and Portland-based Beach Glass Transitions are collaborating to create a new online tool for Maine caregivers of elders called TransitionKey™. TransitionKey helps caregivers to better understand, evaluate, navigate, and access senior care services. The Campus Ventures program will assemble a team of USM Computer Science and Information Technology students to help Beach Glass Transitions develop and launch the new online tool. Funded in part by a Maine Technology Institute Seed Grant, the project serves two purposes: It will allow Beach Glass Transitions to scale and grow their senior services operations in Maine and across the New England region. The project also provides a rich learning opportunity for USM students to get “real world” experience in their fields of study. Campus Ventures is a science, technology, and manufacturing commercialization accelerator program, designed to give Maine companies access to University resources and provide internships and research opportunities for USM students.
