Karlene is a Wisconsinite who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a B.A. in Spanish Liberal Arts and a minor in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. She has lived overseas in Nicaragua, Spain, Peru, and South Korea. Her professional interests include TESOL, linguistics, and multicultural work. As the AmeriCorps*VISTA Program Coordinator for Community-Based Programs, Karlene places USM students at the Boys & Girls Clubs (at Riverton Park and Sagamore Village), Parkside Neighborhood Center, and the Portland Housing Authority (at Riverton Park, Sagamore Village, and Kennedy Park). If she can help with any questions or concerns in these content areas, don't hesitate to ask!
