DBT Training for Therapists: How to Teach the Skills

One of the components of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is skills training. A course of DBT relates to four specific behavioral patterns which increase the person's ability to manage extreme mood dysregulation, correct cognitive distortions, improve chaotic interpersonal relationships, and decrease crisis-oriented behavior. This workshop will teach DBT skills to those who will in turn teach the skills to others. Techniques for teaching the skills will also be presented. In this course, we will discuss and practice:

  • mindfulness skills
  • interpersonal skills
  • emotion regulation skills
  • distress tolerance skills
  • how to teach skills effectively
