Finance for Non-Financial Managers

This course is tailored for Non-Financial Managers who have financial responsibilities in their day-to-day roles and need some assistance in translating information received from their business units. The course will help you understand and work with:

  • key financial and accounting concepts and standards
  • your company's statement of financial position (balance sheet), profit and loss statement (statement of activities) and cash flow statement (statement of cash flows)
  • key financial ratio analyses
  • the planning process; including long- term plans, financial plans, short-term plans, and how these plans drive an organization's operating, capital and cash budgets
  • departmental budgets and key financial analyses including break even analysis and unit costing analysis
  • financing "basics" including working capital management, debt financing, lease financing and the time value of money

Michael Abbatiello MPPM, CPA, is the senior vice president of operations at Sweetser. He is experienced in training financial and non-financial managers in the development, implementation, evaluation and management of improving business processes and systems through analysis and benchmarking activities, and has had consistent success in linking finance with general operations.
