Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes & Insulin Resistance

Understand and resolve the metabolic condition that lurks behind Illnesses such as obesity & heart disease.

One in three people born in the United States today are expected to develop type 2 diabetes in their lifetime. Nationally, Diabetes will become more common than having blue eyes. For a condition that is preventable with properly advised diet and exercise, we as a health care community must be equipped and trained to catch the early signs of those with insulin resistance.

Diabetes is late stage of a lifelong metabolic process, so in this course, participants will learn to recognize the early symptoms, interpret common indicative blood tests and track treatment success or failure. Symptoms like migraine headaches, weight gain, elevated blood pressure, muscle cramps and fungal infections may all be part of the "pre-diabetes" condition.

This course will cover therapies that result in weight loss, improved chances at longevity, prevention of cardiovascular disease and relief of numerous symptoms, but focus is on treating and identifying those with metabolic insulin resistance. Participants will gain a clinical understanding of how to accurately identify those with early insulin resistance through symptoms, family history, lab tests and fitness assessment including skinfold/body fat calipers. Treatment strategies will include those research-supported and evidence-based dietary and fitness changes that people must implement. Participants will learn the nutritional and herbal supplements that are currently either supported or rejected.
