Courses & Requirements

The minimum number of credits in chemistry and related areas (exclusive of the University’s Core curriculum) required for the major in this track: 60-61.
The courses include: CHY 113K and 114K; 115 and 116; 231 and 232; 251 and 252; 253 and 254; 371 and 372; 373 and 374; 401; two of the following five offerings; 345; 351; 377 and 378; 421; 461. In addition PHY 121K and 114K; PHY 123 and 116; MAT 152D, 153; PHY 261 or a math/computer science course approved by the Chemistry Department are required. At least 12 credit hours beyond the 100-level must be taken within the Chemistry Department at USM.
To graduate as a chemistry major or minor in any of the programs, a student must earn a grade of C or better in all chemistry courses and a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in all other courses required for the major.
