Dr. Jeanette Andonian, associate professor and coordinator for the MSW program in the USM School of Social Work, was featured in the April issue of Maine Magazine. In the article "Happy, Hardy Kids," she discusses resilience, a critical concept in today's mental health practice, and the role professionals and parents might take in helping children reach their potential.

Dr. Jeanette Andonian joined the faculty at USM in the fall of 2001. She received her MSW from Simmons College in 1987 and her PhD at Tulane University in 2001. Dr. Andonian comes to academic social work from years of social work practice both in Boston and in New Orleans. Her research has been in the area of children's mental health services with a particular interest in qualitative and quantitative methodologies that support partnerships with consumers in research processes.
