We are pleased to announce the second in series colloquia on promoting resilience and mitigating risk for Maine's youth. Teenagers who are at risk or have mental illness are often receiving treatment through government institutions and programs. With a decline in government funding, what successes are the Department of Corrections, its Community Correctional Officers, and partner agencies of Youth MOVE and Tri-County Mental Health having. Speakers will discussed evidence based practices.
The Feb 28th colloquium focuses on successful transitions from institutional care to community support by bringing together four speakers who discusses successes of evidence based practices of reducing recidivism of youth returning to the correctional system.
Pamela Richards and Mike Mack will provide an overview of evidence based behavioral practices in the youth correctional system. Mike Freysinger will discuss how the Restorative Justice program works to heal youth and the community by holding young people accountable and giving them a second chance. Pat Plough will discuss how an evidence-based mental health treatment program, known as multi-systemic therapy, reduces recidivism by using a team process of working with the family as a whole in the home.
