Faculty Handbook If illness or an emergency necessitates your absence from class or clinical, the department chair or director must be notified. As much as possible, a substitute is sought by the chair or director to cover your absence given the College's commitment to facilitating students' learning experiences. It is advisable for you to maintain a class list with student phone numbers so you or the chair/director can contact students. In the instance of inclement weather, call the USM storm line at 780-4800. When you judge travel conditions to be unsafe, cancel the day's clinical experience. Please notify students in your class or clinical by the quickest method available (phone, E-mail, Blackboard), etc.
