Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Prerequisites in the Undergraduate Curriculum

In addition to having completed 30 credits, the following courses must be taken before entry into sophomore level nursing laboratory courses (NUR 209, 210, 212, 213, 311, 312).

  • English Composition (equivalent to ENG 100)
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I & labs (equivalent to BIO 111 and BIO 112)
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology II & labs (equivalent to BIO 211 and BIO 212)
  • Chemistry for the Health Professions (equivalent to CHY 107)
  • Human Growth & Development (equivalent to HRD 200J)
  • Introduction to Psychology (equivalent to PSY 101J)
  • Introduction to Sociology (equivalent to SOC 100J)

In addition to sophomore level prerequisite courses, the following courses must be taken prior to entry into junior level clinical nursing courses:

  • Skills of Analysis (equivalent to an "E" course offered at USM
  • Introduction to Professional Nursing (equivalent to NUR 100)
  • Pathophysiology (equivalent to BIO 345)
  • Microbiology with Lab  (equivalent to BIO 281 and BIO 282)
  • Human Nutrition (equivalent to CON 252)
  • Health Assessment (equivalent to NUR 209 and NUR 210)
  • Fundamentals Lab (equivalent to NUR 213)
  • Nursing Arts and Sciences (equivalent to NUR 212)

In addition, Statistics must be completed before taking CON 321, Health Related Research.
