Dr. James E. Graves, the new Dean of CSTH, has served as Dean and Professor at the University of Utah’s College of Health and Department of Exercise and Sport Science. His research interests include exercise and aging, musculoskeletal physiology, prevention and rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries, and the use of computer applications and data analysis in biomedical research.
Prior to joining the University of Utah, Dr. Graves served as Associate Dean for Graduate studies, budget and research and as director of the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory at Syracuse University’s School of Education. He also was an Associate Scientist in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine.
Dr. Graves holds active Fellowships in the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Academy of Kinesiology, and was named the Syracuse University United Methodist Scholar/Teacher of the Year in 1999. He earned his Ph.D. in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a M.A. in Biological Sciences from Central Connecticut State University and a B.A. in Biological Sciences from Ithaca College.
