Camtasia is available for both Windows and Mac. This screen-capture software allows you to record narrated PowerPoints, web tours, or software demos. The software is installed on select workstations in Portland and Gorham. You may also download a fully functional 30 day trial for free from their site.
Other Screen Capture options include Screencast-o-matic, a free online service with free hosting available, and, for Mac users, Podcast Publisher, which is included with the Mac Operating System (OS X 10.7 and up).
CTEL does provide Camtasia for Online Faculty, through the Campus Computer store and is only available for install on University owned desktops or laptops. Personal machines are restricted due to licensing rules between the University and TechSmith.
To request a copy of Camtasia, you must submit the proper information for a Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) grant, along with the operating platform of your University-owned computer (Mac or PC). When the software is available, the computing store will contact you to arrange for a time to install your software.
