Any individual interested or engaged in patient safety activity is invited to attend.
The Patient Safety Academy is returning for its fourth year! The Academy draws health care professionals representing Maine hospitals, physician practices, pharmacies, long-term care facilities, agencies, organizations and advocacy groups who come to participate in knowledge and skill building workshops. We are excited to have a great line-up of sessions this year on topics ranging from patient and family experience, conflict resolution tools, alarm fatigue, patient safety executive "walkrounds" and the latest in the prevention and treatment of healthcare associated infections. Also, back by popular demand, the USM School of Nursing will host an interactive activity in their Simulation Lab.
Our plenary speaker this year is Jonathan Welch, MD, MSc, Instructor of Medicine at Harvard and attending emergency physician at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He is also the author of the recent Health Affairs article, “As She Lay Dying: How I Fought to Stop Medical Errors From Killing My Mom.”
Join us for a variety of workshops, networking sessions, and the new "Rising Tide Award" recognition!
