Maine Barriers to Integration

1/1/2007 - 1/31/2008
John Gale

This project is a logical extension of our work on the integration of behavioral health and primary care services. This project will focus on identifying significant obstacles to the integration of behavioral health and primary care including barriers related to state and federal regulations, licensure and credentialing, financial and reimbursement issues, and practice culture. Data sources will include key informant interviews, secondary data analysis as appropriate, primary data collection on provider-level limitations and restrictions and literature and regulatory reviews on issues related to integration. The final work product will include a study report that provides a foundation for the development of a Maine integration implementation plan and related presentations to foundation staff, trustees, and community advisory committee.
