Exercise, Health, and Sport Sciences' Faculty Member, Ben Towne Receives Awards

The Maine Athletic Trainers’ Association (MATA) presented Ben Towne with the 2014 Bill Cox Service Award at it’s Annual MATA Spring Banquet in March 2014.  Criteria for the award includes inspiring others through dedication, commitment and work ethic;  maintaining the highest level of professional service and standards of professional practice;  providing outstanding service to their employer and to the profession of Athletic Training;  and creating a better environment for their colleagues, athletes/patients, and community.

Towne was also recently honored during the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) Maine Clinic in April 2014.  In addition to presenting at the annual conference, Ben was presented the Richard LaRue Professional Service Award by the University of New England for his dedication, leadership, service and advancement of the fields of Exercise and Sport Performance.

“It is so humbling to be recognized by colleagues in this way.  I’m a true believer in professional community, and I think we have a fantastic one here.  I’m honored to work with such amazing professionals in the state of Maine.” 

Ben Towne serves as Clinical Coordinator and Lecturer in the Department of Exercise, Health, and Sport Sciences.
