USM students have developed an exhibition that explores the imprint of slavery on U.S. history and memory. The “Slavery and Public History” exhibition includes artifacts from the university’s Gerald E. Talbot Collection in the Jean Byers Sampson Center for Diversity in Maine’s African American Collection of Maine and from the Shirley S. and Bernard Kazon Americana Collection.
Prof. Kathleen Wininger will lead the post-film discussion. of "Concerning Violence." A film about post-colonial struggles for liberation, which explores the mechanism of decolonization using text from Frantz Fanon's "The Wretched of the Earth".
