Ardis Cameron is Professor Emeritus of American and New England Studies at the University of Southern Maine.
Professor Cameron was named a Fellow by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowships in 2002 and received a National Endowment for the Humanities Senior Research Fellowship in 2001. She is the author of Radicals of the Worst Sort: The Laboring Women of Lawrence, Massachusetts (University of Illinois Press, 1994) and contributing editor of Looking For America: The Visual Production of Nation and People (Blackwell publications, 2004). Her articles on women, working class history, and visual culture have appeared in the American Quarterly, The Journal of Women’s History, Labor, and the Journal of International Labor and Working Class History. Her book, Unbuttoning America: A Biography of Peyton Place was published by Cornell University Press in May, 2015.
