L'Orphéon Chorale Bates Manufacturing Christmas Concert, 1962

A recording made for radio broadcast, probably on Lewiston's WCOU, Christmas, 1962.  The bilingual concert by the Orphéon Chorale, a prominent Franco-American musical society, was sponsored by the Bates Manufacturing Company, Lewiston's largest employer and textile manufacturer.

The Collection is grateful to Father Robert Parent for donating the original open reel recording, and to the Maine Folklife Center for digitizing the recording.

This recording includes narration and advertisements by Bates Manufacturing, and the following music performed by l'Orphéon under the direction of Roger Saucier and Alexis Coté:

l'Orphéon Theme (1:15)

Silent Night (2:49)

Transeaumus (4:42)

O Come All Ye Faithful / Adeste Fideles (2:21)

O Holy Night / Minuit Chrétiens (4:25) - sung by André Bergeron and Conrad Vallaincourt

Sonnez Cloches (3:03) - sung by Larry and Richard Vallaincourt

Les Anges dans Nos Campagnes (2:06)

Joy to the World (1:00)

If I Had My Way, You'd Never Grow Old (3:06)
