Maine French Heritage Language Program (Augusta)

Maine French Heritage Language Program

Would you like your child to learn French?

Would you like your child to participate in a program that emphasizes Franco-American culture in Maine and incorporates local content?

Would you like the opportunity to enroll your child in an academically rigorous afterschool program that also includes a lot of fun activities?

The Maine French Heritage Language Program is an affordable, dynamic program that emphasizes children's creativity and draws on children's natural abilities to learn a second language. Your child will be immersed in French two afternoons a week in classes that incorporate Franco-American history, culture, food, music, and traditions. Classes are taught by experienced professionals fluent in French, in collaboration with French-speaking community members and apprentices.

Classes will be held at your child's school from 2:45-5:00 p.m. two afternoons a week (in a 22-week program, January-June 2012)

Cost (early bird registration rate before December 1st):

$125 per child ($90 each additional sibling)

Regular tuition rate:

$150 per child ($110 each additional sibling)

A limited number of scholarships are available to children

who are enrolled in free or reduced lunch programs.

This affordable program is made possible with funding from the French American Cultural Exchange, the Franco American Heritage Center, and the University of Maine at Augusta.

We are able to offer this rich programming due to this financial support; the actual cost for each child in the program is approximately $1,000.
