Adams Family Scholarship
Fund established in 2006 by a gift from an anonymous donor to provide scholarships for USM students. 

Adult Education Book Fund
Fund established in 2007 by the College of Education and Human Development with gifts from alumni, friends, faculty and staff of the Adult Education Program, to provide financial assistance to adult education students for the purchase of books.

Bank of America Scholarship
Fund established in 2007 by a gift from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to provide scholarships for students in the School of Business.

Catherine A. Baron Endowment
Fund established in 2006 in memory of Catherine Baron by her colleagues, friends, and family to support classified and entry-level professional staff at the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service.

Catherine A. Baron Professional Staff Endowment
Fund established in 2006 in memory of Catherine Baron by an anonymous donor to support professional staff at the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service.

L.L.Bean, Inc. / Lee Surace Accounting Chair Fund
Fund established in 2001 with gifts from L.L.Bean, Inc. and the Gorman Family to support the School of Business Accounting Chair.

Briggs Endowment
Fund established in 2007 by Dr. Russell C. and Barbara M. ’86 Briggs to provide support for the maintenance and operation of the University Events Room in the Glickman Family Library and to support the Briggs Annual Lecture.

Electa McLain Brown Endowed Scholarship
Fund established in 2003 by Mrs. Brown, former bursar at Gorham State Teacher’s College, to provide scholarships for students in the School of Business.

 Aileen M. Carroll ’65 Endowed Scholarship
Fund established in 2007 by a gift from the estate of Aileen M. Carroll ’65 to provide scholarships for women students reentering USM to complete their education.

 Ellen Chickering Music Scholarship
Fund established in 2005 by an anonymous donor to provide scholarships for students in the School of Music, with preference given to students enrolled as voice majors.

ChrisAlice Endowed Scholarship
Fund established in 2002 by James and Lillian ’06 Haversat in memory of their mothers to provide scholarships and funding for students involved with service learning.

Kate Cheney Chappell ’83 Center for Book Arts
Fund established in 2006 by a gift from Kate Cheney Chappell ’83 to provide support for the USM Center for Book Arts. 

E. June Clark and Irene Watson Scholarship
Fund established in 2007 for the benefit of College of Nursing and Health Professions from the estate of E. June Clark to support students interested in advancing in the field of nursing. 

College of Education and Human Development Scholarship
Fund established in 2006 by gifts from numerous donors to the College of Education and Human Development to provide scholarships for students within the College.

Dean’s Leadership Endowment - William J. Ryan Fund
Fund established in 2008 by a gift from William J. Ryan to provide support for the priorities of the School of Business.

The Tasha Dunham Book Fund
Fund established in 2006 by the College of Education and Human Development in honor of Tasha Marie Dunham, a graduate student in the College of Education and Human Development’s School Psychology program, to provide financial assistance to psychology students for the purchase of books and supplies. 

Franco-American Collection Operating Endowment
Fund established in 2007 by a gift from the estate of Madeline Giguere to provide support for the Franco-American Collection at Lewiston-Auburn College.

Madeleine D. Giguere Scholarship
Fund established by a gift from the estate of Madeleine Giguere to provide scholarships for students enrolled in Lewiston-Auburn College.

Gorman Scholars
Fund established in 2006 by Leon and Lisa Gorman to provide undergraduate and graduate scholarships for Maine residents interested in remaining in the state of Maine.

Leon and Lisa Gorman Scholarship for Transfer Students
Fund established in 2004 by Leon and Lisa Gorman to provide scholarships for students transferring to the University of Southern Maine.

Elizabeth S. Hagar Endowed Music Scholarship
Fund established in 2005 with a gift from the estate of Elizabeth S. Hagar to provide scholarships for students in the School of Music.

Lewis Arch Hamblen Scholarship
Fund established in 2004 by the Grace D. Hamblen Trust and other family members and friends to provide scholarships for College of Education and Human Development students who plan to teach.

Maria Carll Hamblen Endowment
Fund established in 2007 by LTC Almery R. ’37, ’39 and Kathleen Pollard Hamblen in memory of Maria Carll Hamblen, a graduate of the third graduating class of Gorham Normal School in 1881, to provide funds for the USM Foundation operating costs in support of the mission of USM.

Stewart Belknap Hamblen Scholarship
Fund established in 2004 by the Grace D. Hamblen Trust and an anonymous donor to provide scholarships for College of Education and Human Development students who plan to teach.

Hoar Family Endowed Scholarship
Fund established in 2002 by Lynn Hoar to provide scholarships for students planning to teach and those interested in K-12 advanced administrative leadership.

Shirley and Bernard Kazon Americana Collection and Endowment Fund
Fund established in 2001 by Shirley and Bernard Kazon to provide support for exhibits, related lectures, programs, annual prizes, new acquisitions, preservation of the Collection, and staffing.

Anna Keating Endowed Scholarship Fund
Fund established in 2003 with proceeds from the Keating Charitable Remainder Unitrust to provide scholarships for students in the College of Education and Human Development majoring in the fields of elementary and/or high school education.

Dr. Elizabeth F. Kerr Memorial Scholarship
Fund established in 2007 by Judith Kerr Clancy, daughter, Jonathan P. Clancy and Christine Kerr Clancy, grandchildren of Dr. Elizabeth F. Kerr, to provide scholarships for students in the College of Education and Human Development, with preference to students pursuing science education within the ETEP program.

KeyBank Scholarship in Honor of Kenneth M. Curtis
Fund established in 2004 by KeyBank in honor of former Maine Governor Kenneth M. Curtis to provide scholarships for students in the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service.

Lucille T. Laliberte Working Mother Scholarship
Fund established in 2008 by Lucille T. Laliberte to provide scholarship support to students who are single female custodial guardians enrolled at Lewiston-Auburn College.

Latin America Library Gift Fund
Fund established in 2001 by an anonymous donor to purchase library materials in support of Latin American and related studies.

Pauline and Emanuel Lerner Professorship for Child and Family Policy

Fund established in 2006 by the Pauline Lerner Revocable Trust to support a professorship within the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service’s Catherine E. Cutler Institute for Child and Family Policy.

Lunder Scholars Endowment
Fund established in 2002 by the Lunder Foundation to provide undergraduate and graduate scholarships for students, with preference given to employees of Dexter Shoe Company and their children.

Martin/Pond Faculty Research Award

Fund established in 2001 with gifts from Catherine Martin and Nancy St. John Pond ’82, ’95 to provide support for research by the College of Education and Human Development faculty.

Dr. John Mitchell Fund
Fund established in 2005 by Dr. John Mitchell, emeritus dean of the School of Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology, to support the operational and scholarship needs of the School.

Ethel Noyes Mortensen Scholarship Fund
Fund established in 2006 by a bequest from Donald Mortensen in memory of his mother Ethel Noyes Mortensen to provide scholarships for graduates of Deering High School enrolled in the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

Muskie School of Public Service Scholarship Endowment
Endowed scholarship established in 2005 by donors to the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service to provide scholarships for students of the School.

School of Music Endowment for Operating Support
Fund established in 2005 with a gift from the estate of  Elizabeth S. Hagar to address the programmatic needs of the School of Music.

National Headquarters for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes
Fund created in 2004 by The Bernard Osher Foundation to support the creation and maintenance of a campus-based headquarters and National Resource Center for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes.

Nelson & Small Prize
Fund established in 1985 and endowed in the Foundation in 2004 with gifts from Nelson & Small, Inc. to recognize the special contributions of faculty to the engineering program within the School of Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology.

The Donald and Hilda Nicoll Scholarship Endowment
Fund established in 2006 by the Muskie School Board of Visitors in honor of Don Nicoll to provide scholarships for highly qualified students matriculated in master’s or doctoral programs at the Muskie School who have a demonstrated interest in public service.

NiSource Charitable Foundation Scholarship
Fund established in 2004 with a gift from the NiSource Charitable Foundation to provide scholarships for students in the School of Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology and Lewiston-Auburn College.

Osher Cartographic Fund
Fund established in 2001 by Dr. Harold and Peggy Osher to support acquisitions, conservation, academic support programs, staffing, and specialized services for the University’s Cartographic Collection.

The Fund for the Osher Chair in the History of Cartography
Fund established in 2006 with a gift Dr. Harold Osher and Peggy Osher to support the Osher Chair and on-going programming of the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education at the University of Southern Maine.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Fund
Endowment established in 2001 with a gift from The Bernard Osher Foundation to support the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at USM.

Osher Reentry Scholarship
Fund established in 2009 by The Bernard Osher Foundation to provide scholarships for students, who after a significant gap in their education, are returning to school to complete their first baccalaureate degree.

Dorothy B. Padula Memorial Fund for Student Travel to Latin America
Fund established in 2001 by an anonymous donor to encourage and facilitate travel/education by USM students in Latin America.

James W. Pendleton Fund
Fund originally established in 2002 and endowed in the Foundation in 2005 by Professor James Pendleton, a former professor at USM, to provide scholarships for students interested in the geosciences.

Pond Family Foundation Scholarship
Fund established in 2007 by the Pond Family Foundation to provide scholarship support for entering or transfer students at USM.

Dorothy L. Snowman Scholarship for Teaching
Fund established in 2005 by Dr. Margaret Early in memory of her editor and long-time friend Dorothy Snowman to provide scholarships for students who are graduates of Caribou High School and planning to become teachers.

Virginia Hodgkins Somers Scholarship
Fund established in 2007 by a gift from the Virginia Hodgkins Somers Foundation to provide scholarships for students in the College of Education and Human Development.

Southern Maine Gorham Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship
Fund established in 1982 and endowed in the Foundation in 2003 by members of the Southern Maine Gorham Alumni Association to provide scholarships for students in the College of Education and Human Development.

Edith Speziali Music Scholarship
Endowed scholarship established in 2003 by an anonymous donor in memory of Edith Speziali to provide scholarships for students in the School of Music, with preference given to students studying the organ.

USM Foundation Unrestricted Endowment Fund
Fund established in 2007 with a gift from the William Niss Revocable Trust for the Foundation’s general operating costs.

Elizabeth B. Woodwell ’75 Fund for Maine Students in the School of Business
Fund established in 2006 by a gift from the estate of Elizabeth B. Woodwell to provide scholarships for Maine students in the School of Business. 

Wright Express Scholarship for the School of Business
Fund established in 2007 by Wright Express to provide scholarships for students in the School of Business.

Joseph A. Zinni Scholarship
Fund established in 2004 by the Music Fellowship of Maine in memory of Joseph A. Zinni to provide scholarships for students in the School of Music.
