National Day of
Silence |

The
National Day of Silence
project brings attention to
name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools that
targets lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people and
our allies. This year’s event will be held in memory of
Lawrence King, a
California 8th-grader who was shot and killed February 12th
by a classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender
expression. Hundreds of thousands of students will
participate in Day of Silence events on
April 25
to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem
of anti-LGBT behavior.
To participate, take vow of
silence for all, or part of, the day on Friday, April 25th.
If your job, class or other commitments don't allow for you
to remain silent, support others who are or share
information about the Day.
