We offer a variety of graduate programs at the master’s, post-master’s, and doctoral levels. Innovative programs include the Doctor of Psychology Program (Psy.D.) in school psychology, the only program of its type in northern New England, and the College’s unified teacher education options that lead to teacher certification.

Graduate and post-graduate programs in the College of Nursing and Health Professions are designed to help accomplished health professionals advance in the workplace. The master’s program prepares nurses as either clinical nurse specialists or as nurse practitioners. The M.S. program also offers a completion program for RNs and an accelerated track for individuals with baccalaureate degrees in other disciplines.

The School offers graduate programs relating to the application of science and technology to the medical, industrial, educational, and business communities. Graduate studies include computer science, and applied medical sciences with concentrations in toxicology and cancer biology, immunology and infectious diseases, epidemiology, and biotechnology. A collaborative Ph.D. program in biochemistry and molecular biology with the University of Maine is also offered.

The School offers graduate programs in business administration (M.B.A.) and accounting (M.S.A.). The M.B.A. program partners with Maine’s business community to develop cross-functional business solutions to “real-world” problems. The M.S.A. program is designed for the working professional as well as for those making a career change. Both graduate degree programs accommodate those who want to study on a part-time or full-time basis and encourage student participation in internships and team projects to provide and/or advance real-world experience in a variety of professional settings.

Professor John Wise, Ph.D., is the principal investigator of the Wise Laboratory of Environmental and Genetic Toxicology. He is a professor of toxicology and molecular epidemiology in the USM Department of Applied Medical Sciences, and director of the Maine Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health at USM. His research interests are in the areas of cancer mechanism, metal toxicology, marine toxicology, and cell culture.
