University
Health and Counseling Services
Marianne is a
RN with many decades of nursing experience who has been
a college health nurse at USM for more than 20 years.
She loves working with college students as they move
from adolescence into adulthood, assisting them in their
efforts to attain and maintain good health so they can
make the most of their college experience and form
habits which will benefit them through life. A special
interest over the years has been helping students
establish and maintain healthy eating habits at college
and beyond, as well as raising awareness around the
prevalence of disordered eating and skewed body image
among college students.
In her outside
life Marianne enjoys spending time with her family
(including her entertaining husband, lively daughter and
son-in-law, especially her two beautiful grandchildren,
and her singularly caring son), reading, traveling,
walking at the shore, and sharing her love of tea. She
struggles with the prospect of retirement for a variety
of reasons, one of which is her reluctance to leave her
stimulating interactions with students and colleagues
here at USM.
