Honors Program

What is a Pioneer?

The Pioneers is a STEM track within the USM Honors Program. Through Pioneers, the Honors Program is empowering a new generation of scientists, information technology specialists, engineers, and mathematicians. Pioneers engage in advanced curriculum and highly innovative programming to maximize their education and growth, at USM and beyond!

As a Pioneer, you will have access to the following opportunities:

  • Take Honors classes to fulfill Core Curriculum requirements
  • Honors-level independent research projects with faculty mentors
  • Honors-specific internships
  • A learning community with dedicated facilities on the Portland and Gorham campuses
  • Dedicated faculty and staff mentors
  • High-impact, experiential learning opportunities designed to deepen your knowledge in STEM and prepare you for post-graduate careers
