Honors Program

What is a Pioneer?

The Pioneers is a STEM track within the USM Honors Program. Through Pioneers, the Honors Program is empowering a new generation of scientists, information technology specialists, engineers, and mathematicians. Pioneers engage in advanced curriculum and innovative co-curricular programming to maximize their education and growth, at USM and beyond!

As an Honors Pioneer, you have access to the following opportunities:

  • Take Honors classes to fulfill Core Curriculum requirements
  • Complete Honors-level independent research projects with faculty mentors
  • Access Honors-specific internships
  • Membership in a learning community with dedicated facilities on the Portland and Gorham campuses
  • Honors-specific faculty and staff mentors
  • Participtae in high-impact, experiential learning opportunities designed to deepen your knowledge in STEM and prepare you for post-graduate careers
