New Employee Information

Human Resources offers a new employee orientation program for recently hired full-time and part-time classified (hourly) and professional (salaried) staff members. The program provides assistance in three ways:

Supervisor's Role: Your supervisor will meetand greet you on the first day with a packet from Human Resources that provides information helpful for beginning employment at USM.

Welcome Matters: You will join other new employees and staff for an all day, informative welcoming in a full-day orientation that includes an introduction to USM's vision, traditions, services, and mandatory training in safety and sexual harrassement prevention.

Benefits Enrollment: individual appointment the Benefits office staff in the Human Resources .  To qualify for benefits, employee must sign up within 30 days of hire. Click on the Benefits Enrollment title, to be brought to the Benefits Office homepage.

 

The transition to a new workplace can be a gradual learning process. Welcome Matters provides a positive and informative step into USM, offering training and active support from the start.

Because the full day program is offered once a month, the supervisor's role on the employee's first day is very important to the success of the program. New employees are notified of their orientation date within their first month of employment. An appointment to discuss benefits may be made at any time after hire.
