USM is the comprehensive regional and urban institution in the University of Maine System which is comprised of Eight academic units on three campuses. The Portland campus is located in Maine’s largest city (population 65,000), within a thriving economic and cultural region of the state, on beautiful Casco Bay. Gorham is 10 miles from downtown Portland in the midst of scenic New England countryside. Lewiston-Auburn is located midway between the coast and the mountains, 30 minutes north of Portland.

BUILDING & GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER #8045 Posted: November 14, 2008 Deadline: November 20, 2008 Employee performs manual work necessary to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, appearance and sanitation of University campus grounds, roads, walks and buildings. Work is performed within established procedures under both written and verbal instructions. Some minor decision making about details of work is exercised. REQUIRED: Must have a valid Maine Driver’s License and a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 80 pounds for short distances and be capable of standing for long periods of time and flexible enough for bending and reaching. Must have a basic knowledge of safety principles and skills in grounds and custodial procedures. Interpersonal and analytical skills are necessary in order to communicate effectively with coworkers and other University personnel. |
