USM is the comprehensive regional and urban institution in the University of Maine System which is comprised of Eight academic units on three campuses. The Portland campus is located in Maine’s largest city (population 65,000), within a thriving economic and cultural region of the state, on beautiful Casco Bay. FACULTY, TECHNOLOGY #8907

The University of Southern Maine, Department of Technology invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level beginning in the fall of 2009, to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of Cost Analysis and Quality Control.  Technical expertise is required in either Materials Processes and Manufacturing; or Digital and Graphic Communications.  Additional consideration will be given to candidates with Occupational Safety and Ergonomics, Human Resource Management and Supervision expertise.  The university has an institution-wide commitment to inclusion, diversity, multiculturalism and community. A doctorate is required for appointment at the rank of assistant professor level, however, candidates who are “ABD” in an appropriate doctoral program will be considered at the rank of instructor.  (Upon completion of doctorate, rank and salary adjustments will be made to the assistant professor level.)  Applicant must be able to demonstrate current technical and professional expertise and an ability to apply that to research, scholarship, and classroom / laboratory teaching. A commitment to providing service to the university and profession is expected.  Professional experience and certification is preferred.
