Employee performs administrative and complex clerical work. Work involves considerable internal and external contacts, difficult non-routine tasks, access to confidential information, and administration of department policies and procedures. Judgment and initiative are frequently exercised in answering verbal and written communications and in interpreting departmental policies, rules and regulations. Work is typically performed under general rather than specific instruction. Ability to work as part of a team is essential.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Administrative background (minimum of two years), computer competency, project management experience. Proficient in operating all modern office equipment and communications technology including: Windows XP, Vista (or newer) personal computer, laser and inkjet printers, facsimile, photocopier, scanner, and telephone; experience with email, internet, word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, and online environment are essential. Preferred: Associate’s degree, minimum of three years higher education experience, computer proficiency, familiarity with USM procedures, personnel and culture. Knowledge and skill in the use of desktop publishing, web development, social networking tools, project management and document management software.
