SUBJECT:  Sample Appointment Letter: Represented Admin & Prof

FIXED LENGTH APPOINTMENT:  YEAR DEFINED AS LESS THAN SEVEN
MONTHS, FULL-TIME, REGULAR OR FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE.
(A fixed length appointment cannot exceed two years and
includes a probationary period.)

Upon the recommendation of the search committee (if any) and
Director, Off-Campus Programs, I am pleased to offer you a
fixed length appointment as a full-time Academic Counselor
with the Saco Center.   The term of appointment will be
August 1, 19__ through December 31, 19__, at a salary of
$7,500, payable in five installments, and there will be no
right, expectancy or interest in any reappointment beyond
December 31, 19__.  You will be assigned a regular schedule
of 40 hours per week.  (Or, you will be assigned a flexible
schedule.)
Information about the University benefits in this position is
available through the Division of Human Resources, 108
Corthell Hall, Gorham Campus.

If you accept this offer of appointment, under the provisions
of the Immigration and Reform and Control Act of 1986, you
must within three days commencement of employment, provide
the University with verification that you are either a
citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully authorized
to work in the United States.  Verification of eligibility is
to be completed at the Division of Human Resources.  You may
wish to contact the Division to determine those documents
which are acceptable for this purpose.
