Policy 101.18 : Weapons on Campus

SUBJECT:  WEAPONS
APPLIES TO:  EMPLOYEES, STUDENTS, AND VISITORS

Dangerous weapons, including, but not limited to, firearms, bows, 
arrows, rockets, sling shots, air guns, martial arts weapons, and 
sharp-edged weapons are not permitted on property owned by or under 
the control of the University of Southern Maine and off-campus 
activities sponsored by the University of Southern Maine.

Any exception must be approved by the Chief of the USM Police 
Department and shall be subject to such terms and conditions as 
the Chief shall deem reasonable.

Any member of the University community who violates this policy 
shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary action up to and 
including dismissal from the University, and/or arrest and criminal 
prosecution.

Any person who is not a member of the University community who 
violates this policy shall be notified at once of the violation 
orally or in writing as soon as possible after the discovery. The 
person may be subject to all appropriate procedures and penalties 
including, but not limited to, the application of the criminal 
provisions of the law of the State of Maine.
