Welcome...

The Department of Information Reporting is responsible for leading administrative and academic departments in the overall strategic extraction, interpretation, dissemination and reporting of their data within the information applications provided by the University of Maine System and University of Southern Maine. The Department has been established as a means of prioritizing reporting initiatives, centralizing reporting resources, and bringing about consistency in the standards of measurements and protocol in the reporting of University data.

This is the Home Page of Information Reporting - Human Resources, or IR-HR. The pages on this site should serve to provide you with information related to the University of Southern Maine Employees.

Employee groups include:

Associated Faculties of the University of Maine System (AFUM) - Clerical, Office, Laboratory, and Technical Unit (COLT) - Graduate Assistants - Law Faculty - Non-Represented Classified staff - Non-Represented Faculty - Non-Represented Professional staff - Part-Time Temporary Faculty (PATFA) - University Police Unit - Service & Maintenance staff - Temporary Classified staff - Temporary Professional staff - Represented Professional Staff (UMPSA) - University Supervisors

IR-HR specializes in the production of systems, data, and information related to the Human Resources of the University. IR-HR is therefore your initial contact point at the University for the data and information related to the human resources of the University.

Primarily, we provide data, information, and MaineStreet information, as well as reports to the Division of Human Resources, the University as a whole, external organizations, and to the public.

Serving the public, we respond to external surveys and information requests considered public information, such as employee statistics, analytical, comparative, and trend data for groups or sets of employees, while safeguarding the privacy of individual employee data.

You can Request HR Information from IR-HR at any time
or (internal to USM) Request Student-Related Info
from our Information Reporting - Students site.

Internally, IR-HR functions as the provider of information and data that serve the needs of the University in the form of statistical data, comparative data, payroll data, year-to-date figures, area leave balances, EEO data, salary data, hire and layoff statistics, and present or past employee lists to special interest groups. We use Intranets extensively in order to place employee-relevant information directly in the hands of relevant users. Restricted information is supplied via secure login Sub-IntraNets designed for particular purposes for specific groups.

IR-HR develops, or coordinates the development of the Information Reporting Web and other standalone information systems and, in most instances, the content for these information systems, such as the Intranet-based interface to easily produce campus address mailing labels internally.

IR-HR is a member of and so serves as liaison for Human Resources to various committees, such as the University System HRIS Steering Committee, the USM Project Enterprise Core Group, the USM IT/IS subcommittee, the University Business Process Improvement Committee, the Project Enterprise Advanced Query Writers Group, and various Campus and System Data Warehouse committees, as well as providing techno-administrative consultation and links between various technical areas of the University and human resources systems and data.

IR-HR maintains membership in the International Association for Human Resources Information Management (IHRIM) and has strong functional ties with the University of Maine System - Systemwide Services areas of the Office of Human Resources and the UMS MaineStreet.
