We recommend that new international students at USM live on campus for the first year. It eliminates the stress of apartment hunting so soon after your arrival and it provides lots of opportunities to make new friends. Philiip Hall has an International Learning and Living Community which is designed to match international students with American room-mates. The Learning Community also organizes lots of activities to help you adjust to campus life and the local community.
USM has academic campuses in Portland, Gorham and Lewiston-Auburn. All of the University Residence Halls are located on the Gorham Campus. To learn more about Residence Life, the cost of on-campus housing and more visit the Residence Life homepage.
Students who wish to live off campus will need to locate their own housing. The University of Southern Maine does not facilitate host families. If you are planning to arrive and apartment hunt we recommend that you make arrangements for temporary housing upon your arrival.
If you need suggestions for hotels please contact the International Office at firstname.lastname@example.org
