Kaoru advises and assists ESOL, international, national exchange, and study abroad students, and coordinates tutoring services for ESOL students. She is also an advisor to the Asian American Association and Symposium student organization.
She first came to USM as a student and has been working here since 1990. She joined the Office of International Programs in 2009.
Kaoru is a native of Chiba, Japan. She received a BA in Anthropology/Geography and an MA in Adult Education from USM. She is a member of Maine-Aomori Sister-State Advisory Council and a member of the Japan American Society of Maine. She also teaches Japanese language at a private language school.
